September - December 2017

So, to start off, i'll begin with last term and the programme we ran. This term included us really getting to grips with being in charge of the Unit, and we had 5 new starters and at the end of December 7 girls moved on to Guides. We trialled a staggered return to Brownies this year, with our existing Brownies returning the week before the new ones started - this worked so incredibly well in my opinion and it meant all the silliness of not seeing friends for almost 8 weeks had worn off, and it meant the new Brownies weren't intimidated by the amount of noise the existing Brownies made! Wool Related Crafts: On tidying the cupboard over the summer we found a lot of wool (And I mean a lot) so we decided that we would do a wool craft related evening. Tawny Owl led the session and after some 'getting to know you' games, we made butterflies and bugs from wool using forks! The girls really enjoyed this, and some made loads! A Brownie Leader's Life

So here I am, once again I have decided i'm going to write a blog about Brownies - specifically the 21st Wakefield Brownies and the activities and trips we take part in. We're a group of 22 Brownies and 5 Leaders based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and we have a very full and varied programme which the girls enjoy! I've been involved in running the unit for 10 years, starting as a Young Leader and I took over as Guider in Charge in September 2017. My aim is to blog, once a week about that week's meeting. I want to share resources that we have used and share our successes (And how we would do it differently next time!)
